Yesterday was hard I ended up leaving my house to go to the casino but my card was not working so I couldn’t pull out any cash so I ended up sleeping instead. Today my brother brought up a topic I forgot, homeownership, so I started looking at my bank account I have less than $30 after bills from loans and phone bills plus gas. Iโ€™m sorry you had a difficult day. Iโ€™ve been there also where I wanted to continue gambling and my card wouldnโ€™t allow it.
      Itโ€™s a blessing in disguise.
On the upside you were able to pay down some debt. Thatโ€™s got to feel good.

    Can Anyone Quit Without God?
Quitting addiction without God is impossible. We either quit addiction and do what God wants or we change addictions. Some quit by a complete dedication to sports or hobbies. But in these cases they simply have a new addiction, one that is way better, and less destructive. However, finding their full God given purpose…[Read more]

It is an insidious adiction that nobody but addicted gamblers can understand……I mean as if we really understand why some people are addicted to gambling. It is the hardest urge I have ever had to deal with and I am not a spring chicken. It has ruined my life. I am not going to gamble again…..These are the words I have to hang on to. I…[Read more]

Like a true addict I found a way to log on to a website yesterday played with free money then self excluded because I was trying to deposit, good thing my access to money was blocked, I blocked myself before I could deposit now I have no access but the urges are still there.

    • Now I need to get this monkey off my back

    • I know for myself when I think I canโ€™t do something I want to even more. Then I told myself I can gamble but itโ€™s up to me to decide Iโ€™m not going too. If that makes any sense.

You are at home and want a bowl of ice cream. Think first. Can you increase your pleasure with a large bowl of ice cream instead of a half bowl? No! Overindulgence never increases pleasure. You need to think about 100’s of hours in front of the mirror. Trips to the doctor because of bad health. Lower energy etc.

This disease is a silent killer. I am so stressed out. Iโ€™ve done it again. As soon as I get money, I spend it up. Just got my taxes and paycheck. Spent over 2000 dollars in three days. I hate myself for this. Back to Guilt, sleepless nights, and worry. How can I overcome this. I want my life back.

    • Hi Lisa
I can identify with you. Not that long ago I had little to no control when to stop gambling. Iโ€™d win some money then lose a lot more because Iโ€™d keep playing. Like a yo-yo until the string was broken.
The only thing at first when I knew I should stop was banning myself. Self exclusion.

        • Don’t think about getting your money back you can’t just self exclude and listen to serenity’s advice. Counselling, groups and hobbies other than gambling

        • Hi Lisa
It is scary what gambling can do to a person.
Iโ€™m still not sure why during gambling reason goes out the door. Possibly part of it is desperation to have our money back. Itโ€™s gone but you can make more and use it to live and pay bills down.

Time is my enemy, I have to occupy my time while I’m waiting for my paycheck to come in, that’s what’s getting me thinking of going back and winning my money back, so i can pay my bills faster, but i know it’ll have the opposite effect so I have to find ways of making my time waiting enjoyable.

    • One thing I do when I have time is getting my makeup done before work so I get dolled up for work to make myself feel good and I enjoy the compliments, that’s one way I make my daily living enjoyable, makeup. Makeup is my hobby. Look good feel good therapy.

I think you mentioned you know this one 🙂
Iโ€™m sorry itโ€™s so difficult to stop. It was really hard for me. In 5 days Iโ€™ll have 4 months. Do I count the days? I do do I wonder what it would feel like to go back. I do.

          • At how I got lured in. Now Iโ€™m suffering.

    • Restarting IS cheating on your sobriety, doesn’t matter where the money comes from, doesn’t matter if you win or lose. You’ve already lapsed if you gamble. Thinking about this question is in fact a sign of emotional relapse so do be aware and remind/reaffirm why you want to quit in the first place and whether quitting is more important than…[Read more]

Try not to fixate on the fact that you lost x amount of money, otherwise it will likely prompt you to put in more money to chase the losses. Focus on how and what you should do (financially) to sustain yourself until the next paycheck/other revenues.
