It is an insidious adiction that nobody but addicted gamblers can understand……I mean as if we really understand why some people are addicted to gambling. It is the hardest urge I have ever had to deal with and I am not a spring chicken. It has ruined my life. I am not going to gamble again…..These are the words I have to hang on to. I fooled myself to think that I could cut down but an addicted gambler can’t do that. Abstinence is the only way to try to overcome this powerful monster

Hi Frog I share your thoughts on just having to stay away. I’ve fallen into that trap many times thinking I can just handle it. And usually when I go back at first I can but I quickly slip into if I just spend some more money I’ll likely hit.
Then when I don’t and I’ve spent all this money depression sets in for me. I literally hate myself but then the next day I’ve found myself back in the same place trying again.
Like a hamster on a wheel I’m running but getting nowhere.
March 7th 40 minutes from this moment I’m writing this message …marks 4 months for me staying away.
This 4th month went rather quickly and was easier than the first three months.
Any amount of time staying away is a gain. My goal is to always stay away. If I do slip I’ll forgive myself and try again. My hopes are that I will stay away indefinitely.
One day at a time.

Hi Dan you are welcome. I wish none of us ever had a gambling problem and from my years of trying to find help. Good support caring advice at times has been hard to find. And it’s needed. And it means something when it’s given.
