Jenny it does get easier I wouldn’t say completely easy but for sure it gets much easier to stay away.
It will come into your mind less the urges will subside to a point where it’s much easier to make a choice to stay stopped. You need to give yourself some time.
Try to find other things that spike your interest. A good movie talking with peo…[Read more] -

This write up is from a councillor who once suffered from addiction himself.
He mentioned in a meeting once gambling has the highest rate of suicide.
Small wonder really everything a person works for slowly slips through the door.
Stay safe and warm!Did you know? Ten percent of North Americans—23.5 million Americans and three million C…[Read more]

Written by a councillor I admire.

Hi Jenny
I’m sorry too hear you are struggling to stay away from gambling.
I did read you are seeing a Therapist. That’s great.
The first time I went it was for a different reason than gambling. It was family therapy. My first session alone with her on the drive there I told myself I’m not mentioning my gambling problem.
When the Thera…[Read more] -

Trace welcome.
I’m not sure why but with gambling a lot of common sense can go right out the door. Plus the value of money.
Recovering from any addiction is a process.
A person needs to want to stop badly enough.
Possibly consider GA meetings and or visiting with a councillor.
You are here and that’s a start. Pretty sure you are upset abo…[Read more]-
Don’t be so hard on yourself, im not on the same boat as you yet but im struggling with my addiction to gambling, I think serenity’s advice is sound, I saw a therapist last week and talked about gambling, im seeing 2 therapist right now both free from the government of bc Canada, one is rec therapy and the other is gambling therapy, maybe you can…[Read more]

Hi Buggy it’s been over three months for myself not gambling.
I don’t feel the loss of the money and I’m more able to see myself paying for things I need to pay for.
I know your fear of not wanting to gamble while wanting to gamble.
There seems to be a road before us.
My guess is gambling really isn’t adding to your life. I know it hasn’t…[Read more]-

I’ve stopped. I’ve stated over and over again.
I give myself time away the longer I stay away the better I feel. I have three months now. I still think about going back but not as often and not as strong emotions. I tell myself the longer I stay away the less I will spend. I hope one day to have no desire at all to gamble. I’m not there but I wil…[Read more] -

Jenny the best way to stop is self exclusion. Closing your accounts. I am either self excluded or I Ve closed my accounts online. Counciling may be something to consider also. A person needs to start doing things differently a hobby spending more time with friends, loved ones. Things that can make you happy besides gambling. There’s no easy q…[Read more]

I think it’s natural to wish for something better. Some people buy the odd ticket. Go out gambling maybe once a year.
I don’t know I guess for us gamblers we decide to take things like gambling to the extreme. get caught up in a dream that rarely comes true Wanting to be the exception to the rule. It’s expensive to find out we are not.
So w…[Read more] -

Today I celebrate three months free of any bets.
I Feel proud of myself getting this far.
I have thought about king back several times over the three months.
During my thoughts I reminded myself of the relentless losses I incurred which led me to the choice to stop. That helped me get through another day and not returning. -

Michael good for you sharing with your sister your struggles. She clearly loves you and had empathy for you
What did that make you feel?
I think you are on the right track.
A gambling addiction is a painful one. Emotionally, financially and even on our physical health.
I wish you stream your recovery.-
I was always a loner growing up. Never close to my parents or siblings. It was a relief talking to her. I am in debt without a job and old. Have to start over and try to survive. I thought I could make a living gambling but I realized too late its not possible. The casino trap get you a win and you think it’s possible to maintain but that’s the…[Read more]

I’m not sure what type of gambling you do. For myself it was slots off and on line.
Off line it’s been years since I’ve placed a bot.
On line in a few days I will have three months free of a bet. And slips on and off for a couple of years before that. I started eight years ago.
Ultimately I realized it’s up to myself to stay away.
I started…[Read more] - Load More
I understand. I fight with urges, too. My triggers seem to be having a stressful or frustrating day at work. That’s when I especially feel the urge to gamble. I banned myself for 1 year from the casinos that are nearby… online gambling isn’t legal in my state. The casinos I can play at are quite a drive- 1-2 hours one-way, so I can’t just jump in…[Read more]
