I did it again! I don’t understand why winning money triggers gambling to continue. If I had any sense, I would’ve walked away with my winnings. Instead I gambled it all back plus more. I feel like a total failure again. I need to stay away from gambling! I thought maybe just this one time I should try and if I win then I will walk away. Didn’t happen that way again!

    • Hi Lisa.Unfortunetly i can relate to you.All i no is each Day is a new chance to start over.I actually work for someone who won the top prize on Massachusetts lottery they do not no i am a compulsive Gambler.Even for this client of mine who won the lottery i can see when i go to his house the massive amount of lottery he plays from scratch tixs being all over his house. So i thinl even if u win large sums of $ it always goes back where it came from.I hope tomor is a new start for you.

      • Hi Lisa
My experience is that there is never a big enough win for a compulsive gambler.
I think the reading on page # 11 in the GA yellow book read at meetings says it all.

The Dream World of the Compulsive Gambler
This is another common characteristic of compulsive gamblers. A lot of time is spent creating images of the great and wonderful things they are going to do as soon as they make the big win. They often see themselves as quite philanthropic and charming people. They may dream of providing families and friends with new cars, mink coats and other luxuries. Compulsive gamblers picture themselves leading a pleasant gracious life, made possible by the huge sums of money they will accrue from their “system”. Servants, penthouses, nice clothes, charming friends, yachts and world tours are a few of the wonderful things that are just around the corner after a big win is finally made.

Pathetically, however, there never seems to be a big enough winning to make even the smallest dream come true. When compulsive gamblers succeed, they gamble to dream still greater dreams. When failing, they gamble in reckless desperation and the depths of their misery are fathomless as their dream world comes crashing down. Sadly, they will struggle back, dream more dreams and of course suffer more misery. No one can convince them that their great schemes will not someday come true. They believe they will, for without this dream world, life for them would not be tolerable.

    • It’s crazy because your mind doesn’t care about the winnings. Your thoughts feel like it’s about the winnings, but it’s your mind telling you that it feels good to anticipate and predict. Every time you do it, it sends signals that tell you to keep going. https://youtu.be/BF5SzIN63w8
Try watching this. It helped me understand why I kept going back even though I knew better
