Depending on where you live or what country? If you live in a state that has or sponsors a lottery?
They have non-faith-based gambling treatment programs at no cost to you. The Lottery will pay for it. Most come with therapy and a group meeting as well. -

It is what happens when you continue to gamble and then chase your losses… You need to break the “cycle” and start also taking your financial inventory. Give your money and all cards, debit, and credit cards to your spouse or a trustworthy person to handle your money.

Not sure where you live …In the USA or another country but since COVID they do offer GA online and from your own home. Also see if a local church offers the support meetings called “Celebrate Recovery” and it is not a “religious thing nor is GA as that is why the combo book shares “Whoever your Higher Power” is… It is for all beliefs.

Hi jodi71,
Depending on where you are located? There are options for treatment for gambling addiction, and yes, some do use medication-assisted therapy to help diminish and aid with the cravings and urges. For example, when I was entered into treatment by way of my suicide attempt, I was in crisis, after a few days becoming stable and better I…[Read more]-

You made the right first step by turning over all your money and finances to someone else. That also should include any and all credit and debit cards. Online gambling is being exploited and pushed right now. Even touching our kids that are minors through fan dual sports betting, DraftKings, and online gambling casinos with ads being run on many…[Read more]

That is a great step to at least reach out to someone. Becoming honest and transparent about your gambling and talking about is a great way to change your thinking and mindset. “-)

What country and/or state are you located in?

Over two dozen states are not on the virtual meetings list, on the GA website. Overall, I think GA needs more representation in less populated states, whether virtual or in-person

I wanted to let you know you can do GA Meetings online now. If you visit their website you can find virtual meetings in your area. I’m still doing mine that way even though I am vax and boosted. I feel more comfortable. You also may want to find a gambling recovery coach or addiction specialist to work with too. And if you have a local church…[Read more]

I appreciate that. I found that our state is not listed as having virtual meetings. I wondered if it is OK to do a virtual meeting for a different state.

I do understand. Feel free to email me if you need to talk. Often, seniors also retire and are not sure what to do with all the TIME they now have.
