Lenor – I imagine it’s hard to have your loved ones seemingly use information that you shared in trust as a way of attacking you, and the pain of wanting to confide in your son but not feeling like you can. I hope there are others in your life (and I’d guess there are) that you can safely confide in and will support you. That said, lean on thi…[Read more]

Forgiving ourselves – difficult but necessary. You wouldn’t kick a loved one while they’re down but unconsciously, we do it to ourselves.
If we could have done better, we would have. All we can do is forgive ourselves, focus on why change is necessary, and then move forward.

Melisa’s, I know the weight caused by the debt, guilt, shame, feelings of isolation, aloneness. Pair those feelings with the seemingly endless cycle that’s addiction, it can feel insurmountable and that it’d be easier to disappear, sparing those you love from needing to suffer with you.
Sounds like your husband is a great support system, and I…[Read more]

Congrats on 30 days and for trying to improve for yourself and your family.
While they may come off as judge mental and not understand what you’re dealing with and how hard it can be to break the cycle, they love you.
Stay strong and prove to yourself that they matter to you more than gambling.

Steve – sorry to hear of the stress that’s making you think about gambling to come up with money.
All here can relate. You’re not alone in this feeling as it’s the addiction speaking.

Hello All,

Although I haven’t read any posts from anyone dealing with an addiction to the stock market, which was my casino of choice, I know that gambling of any kind can stimulate the same mental and emotional responses akin to addiction.
I started activ…[Read more]
