My friend asked me to go and help with a fund raiser but its at the casino and I dont want to go but he feels that all this time in recovery I should be able to go and I feel its shakey ground for me.

I agree 100% with you.
And the number 3 suggestion on page # 17 of the Gamblers Anonymous yellow book says
” Don’t test or tempt yourself. Don’t associate with acquaintances who gamble. DON’T GAMBLE FOR ANYTHING.”
For me just entering a casino I would consider it testing myself.

Even if you manage to stay away from the machines.All you will hear is words and coversations that this addiction needs you to hear like, Win,Luck ,lucky,try,I won,fun,laughter,you will go home and be in a bad mood lol so stay home.Put your big girl boots on and be firm I said NO.
Thank you everyone. Here is an update. I said NO. I didnt say why I just said no can do and left it at that. I feel much better now. I attended some on line zoom meetings and felt stronger after the meetings. I sometimes need to be reminded that I am important.
