You are not alone, I am in the same boat as you. The comment about becoming a different person really touched the heart.

Just thought I’d pop in to see what people are saying. This is officially day 1 for me. I hope one day I can share in a manner that would be beneficial to others like you do.

Am I the only one with a gambling problem that wants to attend meetings? I tried to attend an online GA meeting and nobody is there. I was really looking forward to it. Maybe I have to do without, that will be a whole lot harder. Maybe it’s a good thing that people aren’t showing up because that means they overcame their problems, I know I didn’t…[Read more]

Where did you try attending the online meeting today ?
Have you ever tried attending a face to face meeting ?
If you email me your location at ken.lambon@rogers.com I will
try and help you find a meeting. And I no longer consider myself an addict.
When I attend face to face meetings I introduce myself as Ken L Grateful Recovering Compulsive Gambler.

Why are my posts being censored? Kenl responded to one of my posts and now I can’t find that post. I wanted to thank him for getting back to me because he answered my question, it wasn’t the answer I wanted to hear however. I am in the same boat as an earlier poster of not being sure if I have the strength to overcome this or not.

I am poor in spirit most the time. Hopefully that will change and I will want to do things.

Don’t forget to take time for yourself. But maybe this is what works for you, I know some people always like to stay busy, it’s better than the opposite which is what I am. At least you get stuff done hopefully the results will bring you some joy. But take time for yourself. Feel what you’re feeling and make sure you are not just running away from…[Read more]

You have the strength to quit if you really want to. I’m sorry for all you’re going through. Please don’t let it happen again. I wasted 20 years telling myself that it will be different next time, that I can be strong. Don’t do the same thing. Accept that you have a problem and come to a resolution. You lost your job (hopefully it was one you wer…[Read more]

But I know you won’t let it get that far.

Beat this as soon as you can. Remember that you have a problem. I have wasted more years than I can count thinking I can do it differently next time.

I don’t know what kind of situation you are in but I would recommend some more conventional methods for relieving stress. I would maybe try meditation and take a step back and realize that nothing needs to be done. That you can hopefully just enjoy what is. Personally I don’t have a lot of experience dealing with stress because I try to keep my…[Read more]

I’m sorry, it appears no one is around. I wish I knew how to help you but I don’t. You don’t want to know the answer that came to mind. https://www.helpguide.org/articles/stress/stress-management.htm

    • I would love to know what answers come to your mind maybe I won’t feel so crazy cuz it’s probably the same shit that comes to my mind

To me gambling is my trap. I can be strong and be able to afford to gamble but as soon as I start making bets I get sucked in and before I know it I lost a lot more than what I decided I could afford. Also not having anything to do was a trap. Gambling gave me something to do instead of just going to bed.

For me gambling gave me something to do but it cost me all my money and then caused me to go into debt. Even if I would win I wouldn’t cash out or if I cashed out I would re-deposit until I had no more money left. Then I would take out loans to get me by but I would gamble portions of that money too. Sometimes I would end up gambling my rent money…[Read more]
