Hi all, I am new to this community and am not sure what to say but I have a serious gambling problem with sports betting. It has taken over my life and I’ve lost more than I ever could have imagined. I am looking for help but the problem is I currently live in China where I work and no one will see me online for therapy sessions. I really want to establish a consistent therapy plan. I’m willing to do anything. I am so incredibly sad reading some of your stories as they really hit home but I appreciate them very much as I know it’s possible to turn this around. Thank you

    • Hi Lee, I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been in the same boat, and now I’m trying to quit. I’ve never thought I would be joining such a community, because I thought I am much stronger than this, but honestly, learning from others and supporting each other definitely helps. I’ve been advised here to keep a journal and to write my thoughts every day. Try to be strong! For me today is DAY 1. Every time you feel like gambling, try something else, watch a movie, read a book, write in your journal…call a friend, go for a walk, exercise…easier said than done, I know, but we must be strong! Good luck and let me know how it goes.

      • Meditation helps too.

        • Thank you, Monica! Good luck to you. We are both on Day 1. I will start with these suggestions. Seems to work for a lot do people.

          • You are welcome. I just read some stories of hope on this website. I suggest you read them too. Wow! They are inspiring and scary at the same time…It’s time to quit now…

    • Hello Lee hope you are doing well today I find helpful is keeping a journal just write how many days clean and the date and write how you are feeling that day it gives you time to reflect on your goal and keeps you in the mindset of recovery hope it will help you stay clean and give your higher power a chance to work on you.
