Community 2 years, 8 months ago I blew off my regular GA meeting last week, and I have a strong feeling I’m going to blow off tomorrow’s as well. This stems from my not-so-great experience with AA, which I solved by purchasing my own copy of the Big Book and working through the steps on my own. I should at the very least attend and try to find a sponsor.

If I might be so bold as to suggest; if you really want help and believe you have a problem make both meetings. It has been my experience those that try to do it by themselves only stay abstinate and in recovery for a short period of time before the inevitable addiction returns with a vengeance. Reflection for the day April 3rd “Them that stops going meetings are not present to hear about what happens to them that stop going to meetings”. So again “I strongly suggest” you go to meetings. Of course it’s your choice. When I was “in action” I abrogated my right to chose to the addiction. I hope you make the right choice. All the best in your journey. I found a meeting that’s geared towards newcomers to GA, and have decided to make that my weekly meeting.

I have been sober for 22 years, but struggling with Gambling. I keep getting close to 90 days then cave under pressure. Get some accountability partners, people you can call when you feel “the urge”. I can also tell you that I never formally worked the steps at AA, had a sponsor one time who fired me! I can say that I want nothing to do with alcohol or drugs, I’ve been delivered. I keep praying for relief from gambling urges, I know they will pass and I’ll be delivered as well. Keep the faith and get some phone numbers!
