    Hi Skinner
Just want to share that I have been in recovery since June 2002 but it took me over 20 years of gambling which became increasing worst.
I was going to end my life as I was about to lose my family home and job but on the day I planned to do it a knock on the cottage door brought me back to reality. I call GA found counseling and am blessed to be where I am today.
I have been involved with several different sites / programs like this and my experience is the folks / newcomers who come here are just testing the waters and most aren’t ready or have hit their bottom. Same as in Gamblers Anonymous or group counseling more folks leave then stay.
And I think two issues that are holding your progress back are that most gamblers in early stages of looking for support don’t have a lot of trust in programs / support and none that I know have any money for treatment programs.
If I may suggest try finding some support from senior members in a few of the many facebook Gambling Recovery groups or place a message there explaining your app.
    Wishing you well.

    • @kenl Hello Ken,
Thank you so much for sharing your insight with me, I get the same feeling as well (that they are completely ready to commit to change). Regarding the two issues you mentioned, 1. do you think that if it’s supported/endorsed by a reputable organization, they’d trust it more? 2. at its core, I still see it as more a problem of motivation than of finances seeing as they seem to have money for gambling. But how to raise their motivation enough so that they want to seriously commit to seeking help I don’t yet have an answer.

I have tried Facebook group as well, but found it extremely difficult to do anything there since every FB group I found has explicit rules that prohibit “self-promoting”, and people are so skeptical of your intentions as soon as you include a link so I get the sense that it’s nearly impossible to say anything related to the app without the post or comment getting removed.

Maybe it’s really just not a viable idea after all. Thank you in any case, I genuinely appreciate your help.

      • You are welcome
Not sure if you have noticed at the top of the community page it shows how many members we have or at least how many people have visited the site and have signed in but sadly only a handful stick around. Currently 8000 people have signed up.
Not much different then the rooms of GA as they visit a few times and then go back to try and win the ” Big one ” but sadly there is never a “Big enough win for a compulsive gambler.
        Take care

        • Hi Ken
I hope you are doing okay. I hope your tests are discovering/diagnosing what you need help with and the healing for you is quick.
I did notice the number climb to 8000.
Are you able to tell how many people visit but don’t comment?
I feel that would say something also.
That to me is 8000 people that have found this site realizing they have some kind of problem with gambling. I don’t think a person would search out a site without knowing they are struggling.
There was a gambling site I joined in 2017-18
It was similar but had a work station along with it gambling records a person could keep, how often one played thoughts about gambling etc.
I was new to gambling. What really turned me off there is I left a comment on how I felt gambling was taking over my life. And no one bothered to comment back. That really turned me off of the site. I felt no one there really cared anyways.
I do find here on occasion the odd person we’re not councillors but really does care about what a person has posted is going through.
To me the purpose of going to a site is trying to connect with other people with a similar problem. In search of answers in how to turn things around.
Keeping in mind this site is sponsored by casinos. That makes me think also.
If it wasn’t for the compulsive gambler they wouldn’t have much money and enjoy the life they are enjoying.
That alone makes me feel angry enough that I don’t want to gamble.
Those sites I bet are rigged so bad it’s not a game of chance.
          There I said it
I’ve almost posted comments here that I believe have been deleted. My thoughts may not always be what a person needs to hear but bottom line. I care.

          • Hi Serenity
Thank you for your honest thoughts and feeling toward Gamtalk and other sites to help folks.
I have been involved in several and sadly two of them no longer exist.
Not sure what part of the world you are from but if you ever need to chat / share I try to check into our chatroom around 11 pm est. And as for deleting posts / comments the only ones I usually delete involved a person stating amounts of wins ect. spam / ads and people making personal attacks on other members.
            God Bless

            • Hi Ken
Thank you for your comment it is heart felt.
I have posted to several people here. I’ve seen my comment go up and when I return it’s gone. I don’t know maybe some kind of a glitch.
              I live in Canada. Ttyl
