We often gamble because we are either not content or because we are not prospering. To increase contentment consider praying: “Father, take away this spirit of gambling and help me to be content.” Next, look up how to be content in Google and try some of the ideas.

    Prospering

David wrote in Psalm 1: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

We walk in the counsel of the ungodly when we listen to and believe friends who influence us in bad ways. Matthew Henry wrote:

“A godly man, that he may avoid the evil, utterly renounces the companionship of evil-doers, and will not be led by them.” Consider praying:

“Father, help me to focus on being with people who You want me to be with.”

2 We stand in the way of sinners when we choose to be in the wrong place, where the wrong people are.

3 We sit in the seat of the scornful if we listen to people who scorn Christianity. If you don’t get away from them, they will likely influence you.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

We delight first in the law of the Lord concerning gambling. Focusing on the verses for quitting. Second, we delight in the law of the Lord on sins that lead us back to gambling (Do an internet search: Verses about ________). Third, we delight in the law of the Lord on sin in general. Because sin keeps us in darkness and depression. Now let’s see what happens when we follow verse two.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The problem is… we only half believe this scripture. The Bible says: Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

Read these 3 verses every day until you “really” believe them. Why? Because they will change your life into what verse three promises.

    • Speak in the 1st person. Stop with the “we”. why do you gamble and why do you not stop and stay stopped. Those are the issues YOU, as a problem/compulsive gambler need to answer for yourself. Keep flailing about. One day you might get really “LUCKY” and find your way home. Best wishes on finding peace and serenity. YOU NEED TO DO THE WORK. I’M DOING MINE. I AM NOT A PART OF YOUR COHORT.
