I feel casinos in Canada should be checking every player for VSE ( voluntary self exclusion ).

    • I totally AGREE with you. But it will never happen. I was interviewed last month by a reporter from MSNBC that asked me the same question… He was doing a story about this topic of Voluntary Exclusion and asked if it works. He also interviewed Keith Whyte, the Executive Director of The National Council on Problem Gambling, and asked the same question. We both told the reporter NO.
Not one casino in any country checks these BAN agreements or checks IDs when people come in the casinos who have BANNED THEMSELVES. I did self-exclusion once and still went to the casino and gambled. I never got caught or thrown out. Sadly, it just doesn’t work. You’d be better served to seek a gambling recovery therapist or treatment program if you want to stop gambling.
      Just my own opinions. 🙂

      • In Ontario Canada If self-excluded from casinos, you won’t be permitted into any Ontario Casino or eligible to win prizes. You will also be ineligible to play on OLG.ca.

If self-excluded from Charitable Bingo & Gaming, you won’t be permitted to enter any Ontario Charitable Bingo & Gaming Centre or eligible to win prizes.

You will also be removed from OLG marketing lists and provided with information to support your commitment to self-exclude.
Also FACIAL RECOGNITION AT ONTARIO CASINOS
        HOW DOES FACIAL RECOGNITION WORK?
During registration for Casino Self-Exclusion, your facial image will be taken, uploaded to a secure database, and used for comparison to faces captured by designated Facial Recognition cameras at casinos.  Facial recognition is a tool, used by casinos to assist in detection to support individuals in the Self-Exclusion program.

The facial recognition system uses an algorithm to determine potential matches to people registered in the Self-Exclusion program. A designated casino staff member will compare potential matches identified by the system’s casino cameras, with the images of the Self-Exclusion program participants in the database. If the images are determined to be a match, an attempt to locate the individual will be made and they will be escorted off the premises.
So hopefully other countries will someday use these ideas.

        • Great info to know, Ken. I know they have nothing like this here in the USA. I heard either Japan or China is testing facial recognition, but in the states, they don’t do or check unless you win a big amount of money that they have to pay you out, and then they check and KEEP your money have won.

That is pretty much the only way you get caught here in the USA… Cat
