Thought I could make it But, I didn’t I failed myself and I let the urge beat me one week at time I guess made it a week without gambling and unfortunately I couldn’t resist the temptation and I did it feel so week withdrawing from a rush of dopamine but I got the rush and it didn’t feel the same like a realization of why am I doing this. I recently quit vaping and I wanted to do it so bad after a couple weeks and I did it again and realized after I hit a vape I was like why do I need this I’m so much better then this I just hope that happens again. I hope god can forgive me for my greediness and let me continue on as I have made mistakes. I will do better on this next journey

    • Hello Buggy,

It’s hard staying gamble-free so give yourself a pat in the back for making it to 1 week. You are not weak, you just lack the know-how and practice on how to deal with urges better. Urges tend to subside gradually on their own usually after 15 min so the next time you are experience them, see if you can occupy yourself with sth engaging for 15 min (calling sb, going for a walk, watching TV, anything), then push for another 15 min. Remind yourself just because you want to act doesn’t mean you HAVE TO, You are in charge of what you do.

In case you are looking for self-help resources, why not check out this digital treatment program I am building? I am a psychotherapist who has had experience working with patients with gambling disorder in the hospital, this app is meant for people like you who are struggling with this addiction. It includes content such as how to handle urges and prevent relapse. Here is the website to know more, feel free to sign up to express your interest so that we can make it faster: https://skinnerapp.wixsite.com/helloskinner

      • Is this app free skinner? Buggy what happened you quit gambling, I have the same urges as you and I think we’re on the same boat

        • Hello Jenny,

We want to make it free so we are looking for ways to partner with orgs that might take an interest in it, but even if we did end up charging users, there will be some content available for free and the full version is going to be significantly less than the cost of one therapy session, for example.

Hope that answers your question. Thanks for your interest Jenny.
