A million years in eternity, and only a few down here. Many people shrug off the advice to care about souls as a key to quitting gambling. But the Bible says that if we don’t bear fruit we will be thrown into the fire. We find the command to bear fruit in both John 15:2 and Matthew 7:19.
Now you may say: I can’t do that. I am a hopeless gambling addict and ______ addict. But here is the good news. It’s not your job to bear fruit. It’s your job to be available and interested in doing it. But it is mostly the Holy Spirits job to do it.
Our job is to be filled with the Spirit so that we are empowered to do it. And here is more good news. As we get more filled with the Spirit, gambling starts to lose its grip on us. And when we really get filled gambling is behind us and joy and power are in us.

Wikihow says that first we need to “repent of our sins and commit to doing better in the future.”
To be filled with the Spirit we need to go to war with all sin. We need to make a plan on how we will change in each area that we struggle with. Here is more good news. All sin almost always leads back to gambling. Sin brings darkness into our lives. In that weakened condition we almost always fall. So when we go to war with all sin we are really declaring war on the lust which is destroying us.
Here is a key point: Gods ways are always good, always better and always helpful for a better life and for our happiness.
Secondly Wikhow says: “In John 7:37-39, Jesus says: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” The “rivers of living water” he’s referring to are the Holy Spirit.”
It is vital that we believe this verse. It is important to believe that the Holy Spirit flowing through us will be the greatest thing ever.
You especially need to believe that verse if you are a natural rebel like I was. Because if you are like me It is going to take a lot of prayer. And it may take a lot of time. But not really a lot of time as compared to a million years in eternity.
