Today is a rough day. It’s been about about a week since I’ve accepted I got a gambling addiction and today with the Superbowl all I’m thinking about is wanting to bet on everything. I have my wife my Superbowl polls that I was in so I don’t even look at them but this is a tough day. Trying to do other things to keep my mind off it but it’s truly hard.

    • First few months are the toughest to get by and especially a day like the Super Bowl.
But keep it up ODAAT as it does get easier.

      • Thanks, I appreciate the info. It’s good to have a site like this, to let people know the struggle.

    • The first days and weeks can be the toughest but it does get easier. Take the words ‘GIVING UP’ out your thoughts as this suggests you are depriving yourself of something, replace it with ‘I CHOOSE NOT TO GAMBLE’. When you get an urge to gamble ask yourself ‘WHERE DOES IT ACTUALLY HURT’? This helped me a lot and I hope it helps you. I found that accepting the losses and not feeling owed helped. I gambled for over 30 years and lost in excess of £500,000 but drawing a line underneath that loss and accepting it enabled me to move on and for the first time feel in control of my choices and free to get on with my life. HERE’S TO BETTER TIMES AHEAD FOR YOU.
