Community 5 years, 6 months ago Lifelong gambler here. I had a couple years in GA before getting divorced. I’ve been gambling pretty hard for 3.5 years. I just got back from Vegas. It was bad enough that I’m posting on this board! My question is this. My absolute demon is video poker. However, I like poker, sports betting and blackjack. I know GA says I must give up all. Are there any other suggestions? Somewhat desperate. Please be easy on me! I’m beat up enough.

I know you don’t want to hear it but there is not a single form of betting or wagering that is safe for a compulsive gambler. I know it sound like cliché but one small bet for me is like one beer for an alcoholic. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way. The only way to heal and be better is not to gamble. wishing you the best. today I will not gamble.
Video poker is brutal. I found out I have ADHD so it is like crack to me. At least $100 an hour goes down the tubes when I gamble on those. The 12 steps work if you work them. I like the AA version better than GA. My spiritual condition determines if I gamble today or not. I must be free of fear, dishonesty, resentment and help other compulsive gamblers, or I go back out, it is that simple.
