SEPTEMBER 12 Reflection for the Day

“At certain moments,” wrote Coleridge, “a single almost insignificant sorrow may, by association, bring together all the little relics of pain and discomfort, bodily and mental, that we have endured even from infancy.” The Gamblers Anonymous Program doesn’t teach us to pretend that hardships and sorrow are…[Read more]

Great message here. Tips: Begin each day by emptying out the negative. How? This works for me:

    1) Relaxed mind/body/breathing. No distractions. Be alone

    2) Think of your mind as an empty container.

    3) go through every thought you have 1 by 1 and put into container…[Read more]

Recovery day 4. After working a 15.5hr shift today I had a breakthrough. There was a moment of clarity about what I was doing, who I am, and the direction I need to go to move forward. IT WON’T BE EASY, but nothing EASY is WORTHWHILE! I’ve felt in a fog (unknowingly) for so long because gambling thoughts occupied a lot of space in my mind. My goal…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 9 Reflection for the Day
The longer I’m in the Gamblers Anonymous Program and the longer I try to practice its principles in all my affairs, the less frequently I become morose and depressed. Perhaps, too, there’s something to that cynical old saying,”Blessed is he that expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed, but instead…[Read more]

I just got home from the casino. I have been lying and sneaking around behind my boyfriend’s back. I need help!

    • Hi Denise
If you are interested please send me an email at ken.lambon@rogers.com and I will send you two daily recovery focused messages to start and end your day. And on Monday nights if you are around at 10 pm est I chair an online GA Type meeting in the chatroom you visited last night.

    • Hi Denise. I found this to be another trigger for me too just now. Whenever spouse is not around or would not know. I’m only on day 3 and understand what you’re going through!

      • ya. My boyfriend works out of town for weeks on end so I can hide everything, but I am starting to realize it’s embedding a significant amount of deceit in our relationship that is starting to really eat me up inside.

Feel the urge around 1-2pm downtime after the kids eat and are settled. I’m going to do something different and take them for a walk and enjoy more of the time I have with them. 1 step in front of the other. I know I can do this!👍

Today is my day 1. I realize I have a problem over the past year with online gambling. It’s too convenient and easy. Got hooked on a few nice wins. We all know it’s always short lived… I’ve gone through all of my savings/investments and I’m trying my best right now to start over. I contemplated taking out loans, using credit cards but I’m not…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 8 Reflection for the Day

We are told that no situation is hopeless. At first, of course, we find this hard to believe. The opposites – hope and despair – are human emotional attitudes. It is we who are hopeless, not the condition of our lives. When we give up hope and become depressed, it’s because we’re unable, for now, to believe in…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 7 Reflection for the Day
“If you’re not all right the way you are,” it’s been said, “it takes a lot of effort to get better. Realize you’re all right the way you are, and you’ll get better naturally.” Realize you’re all right the way you are, and you’ll get better naturally.” Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation so difficult…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 6 Reflection for the Day
As practicing compulsive gamblers, we were all too familiar with depression, that pile-up of dark feelings that seemed to close over our heads at regular intervals. Even now, when I am not making progress at the rate I expect I should be, when I expect a total turnaround in my spiritual self overnight, those…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 5 Reflection for the Day
We’re often told that compulsive gamblers are perfectionists, impatient about any shortcomings-especially our own. We tend to set impossible goals for ourselves, struggling fiercely to reach our unattainable ideals. Then of course-since no person could possible meet the extremely high standards we demand of o…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 4 Reflection for the Day
Though I have prayed at various times in my life, I realized after several months in Gamblers Anonymous that I’d never really prayed properly. I’d always tried to make deals with God, much like a foxhole atheist; I’d always pleaded, “Grant me my wishes,” instead of “Thy will-not mine-be done.” The result was t…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 3 Reflection for the Day
Sometimes, even when friends in and outside of the Gamblers Anonymous Program tell us how well we’re doing, we know deep down that we’re really not doing well enough. We still have trouble handling life and facing reality on reality’s terms. We suspect, at those times, that there must be a serious flaw in our s…[Read more]

I”m only 15, and already addicted to crypto gambling. I’ve lost over 3 thousand USD in the last year off crypto gambling. All of this money was mostly from my father, and some from my savings. I recently was unfortunate enough to get banned on the site known as ROBLOX for buying a limited item to gamble on a ROBLOX gambling site known as RBXFlip.…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 2 Reflection for the Day
When I wake up, I’ll think quietly about the twenty-four hours ahead. I’ll ask God to direct my thinking, especially asking that it be free from self-pity and from dishonest or self-seeking motives. If I have to determine which of several courses to take, I’ll ask God for inspiration, for an intuitive thoug…[Read more]

SEPTEMBER 1 Reflection for the Day
The Gamblers Anonymous Red Book, in explaining Step Eleven, says “A conscious contact seems to start with daily prayer. What is prayer? To some it is a personal chat with their Higher Power. So each of us can pray as we see fit.” If at first prayer seems difficult, you can “fake it until you make it.” “In time…[Read more]

AUGUST 31 Reflection for the Day

From time to time, I begin to think I know what God’s will is for other people. I say to myself, “This person ought to be cured of his illness,” or “That one ought to be freed from the abuse she’s going through,” and I begin to pray for those specific things. My heart is in the right place when I pray in such…[Read more]

STEP 1- WE ADMITTED WE WERE POWERLESS OVER
GAMBLING AND THAT OUR LIVES HAD BECOME
    UNMANAGEABLE.
We at Gamblers Anonymous believe our gambling problem is an emotional illness,
progressive in nature, which no amount of human will-power can stop or control.
We have facts to support this belief. We believed, at one time or another, that all of
    our…[Read more]
