My friend Simonsays said, “I am watching everbody winning. This is a top 5 habit we must break. Everybody is losing. We notice the winners and ignore the losers. Notice the losers. There are 99 losers to every winner. Notice them. We are them.
Second, consider saying 10 times daily, “I will think about the losers, the 99%, I will notice the…[Read more]

    Spiritual Ideas
I wrote a thread called how Jesus overcame temptation. But, within a few days, I was back to fighting temptation the way I like to fight it. I like to pray when I am tempted. Praying when you are tempted is a great idea. Keep doing that. But when you feel yourself starting to fall it might be a good idea to do exactly what Jesus…[Read more]

    • My first tip for you is how about pulling over somewhere to scratch tickets. Or you could do like the real degenerates and scratch them off in the store they just bought them in. Maybe even at the checkout line while everyone else in line would really love to get on with their day. Seriously, pull over, there are enough idiots on their phones…[Read more]

Philippians 3:13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Second, last week I failed in straining forward. I had a lot of bad moments last week. We strain…[Read more]

Day 2…. No gambling to report. Thank god. I have just enough to fix my car and go to work today. Coming to terms w the damage I’ve caused but not beating myself up too much today. Just picking up the pieces one day at a time and hopefully payday tomorrow finds me on day 3. Thanks my friends. Knowing your here to listen means everything to me right now

After getting off probation, I’ve relapsed and feel horrible. I’ve spent all $6000 of the money I saved after not gambling for 1.5 years. I’m back to day 1 today. I can’t sleep and I have to work in a couple hours. I guess I had to see if I could control it after not having prison hanging over my head. I’m going to try and post daily for awhile an…[Read more]

When the Lord’s prayer says: “Hallowed be Thy Name, it has a number of meanings. When I was young I thought, “There is this far-away God who made up a bunch of rules for us.” But God’s commands are not arbitrary at all. He knows exactly what is best for us. When He tells us to do other things instead of gambling, it is the smartest thing in the w…[Read more]

Today I am striving to pray about self-control 100 times. Today, consider praying about what you need self-control in. Next, find the right prayer to pray. With habits that are strongholds, we need to chop at the base of the habit to start to kill it. Praying, Father, give me self-control over _______ is good, but if you still think about the…[Read more]

I know someone who has pounded their addiction for 40 straight years and has lost 90% of everything. I hope I get the chance to say to him, “You would have more joy 30 days from now if you quit.”

Second, the amount of pleasure he gets from his addiction right now is ruined by a 5 to 1 margin by the problems the addiction has caused. So there is…[Read more]

While I appreciate your posts and words of divine wisdom, I still am not totally sold on this whole God’s plan thing. Ok, I admit I can be a bit agnostic, but I also believe in things like science and evolution. When I gamble I don’t think about the devil giving me a ride to the casino, I think this is a terrible idea but I’m going to do it anywa…[Read more]

    Spiritual Ideas
We need to change the way we think because changing our thinking is the first step to changing our actions. Transformation changes us from emptiness to fullness.

The further away you get from God, the more trouble you are going to have in your life. Things will go wrong because you are not cooperating with your Creator, and you…[Read more]

What if someday in heaven someone walks up to me and says: I read your article called “Be ready.” It inspired me to take a notebook and write 7 quitting statements in the left hand column.

#1 Turn from triggers. I then filled the main section with its initials TFT 100’s of times.
#2 Run from sin. I then filled the main section with…[Read more]

I find one of the hardest things to do is ask for help when you are struggling. Especially from the people that know about your problems but don’t suffer from the same things.
People in your life who know you have an addiction are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. But if you tell them you are struggling, they assume you are going back t…[Read more]

    • I would love to chat about our struggle. I have been gamble free for a couple months now and am going to be on here more. Let me know when you have time and we can do that.

      • Thanks for saying that, I appreciate it. I’m glad you have been staying away from it for a couple of months. I live in the U.S., and it seems like most of the people here are in Europe, U.K. I would really benefit from talking with someone without the judgment. I keep pretty clammed up because there is plenty of shame with being so compulsive, a…[Read more]

I would really love to make it one week without gaming. I feel like if I could make it one week I could make it two weeks and then so on and so forth. I can’t even make it 2 days at the point I’m at right now. I really want to stop.

    • I would like to suggest setting a timer and every hour that you don’t gamble pat yourself on the back. That helped me to build self esteem for myself. I could make it if I believed I could.

At this time last year I was successfully enrolled in the GameBreak program and was not gambling. Now I am sitting here wondering if I am going to have to sell my home to get out of the hole I have dug myself into. I started gambling again, at first it was just to show myself I beat it and it didn’t control me anymore after 8 months (silly thought…[Read more]

    • I have been on the same roller coaster ride for many many years. I don’t understand why I can’t control this addiction. I quit smoking many years ago and I was a heavy smoker. I do feel I know the reason I go back is because I am lonely and of course the more u gamble the lonier you get because u shut people out.

      • Frog2255 I think my reason for not quitting is that gambling makes me happy in the moment but the devastation afterwards is horrendous I think I’m chasing some sort of happiness, I want to be happy that’s why I keep gambling, it’s thrilling. I must be addicted to the rush.
