Quitting probably takes longer than you think. Forming new habits probably takes longer than you think. It takes 66 days on average to form a new habit. Some people are so obsessed with quitting and with new habits, so they think about forming new habits “All the time.” That leads to more rapid success. Others who are completely determined to qui…[Read more]

I watched a You Tube where a guy was describing to an actor about to play a heroin addict, what it is like to be on heroin. He told him: Drink a bunch of whisky and get into a hot tub, and that will be the tip of the surface of what it is like to be on heroin. My immediate reply to hearing that was a loud NO. This person is exaggerating the…[Read more]

    Emotions
I believe it is a fact that bad habits lead directly to negative emotions. Sinful repetitive habits always lead to things like anxiety, anger, fear, frustration, and a list of 20 other bad emotions, and the final result becomes darkness and depression. My proof is what the Bible says our emotions are supposed to be like:

    Galatians 5:22…[Read more]

Was on here a few years. I thought I was on the right track, but had probably the worst relapse of my life this past month. Really having a hard time staying away with all the different advertisements for sports betting on your phone right now. If anyone is consistently active on here I’d love to chat sometime.

    • A gambling addiction is a very powerful addiction. The impulse to gamble is overwhelming at times. I have ruined my life financially and I still want to go. I am fighting it and I am going to win.

To quit an addiction we decide to do new activities and then we do them. They are not for fun, play, pleasure, or profit. It is wise to treat them like work or some great difficult goal.
    1. Example: I decide my new activity is playing the piano. First I set a goal: 30 minutes per day. # 2 Decide exactly when you will do it: 6:30 PM. # 3 Say 10…[Read more]

With gambling, something partially dies, or starts to die, the more it is done. Many agree that bad things happen because of gambling and sin, but most agree that gambling kills love, joy, peace, and purpose to a greater or lesser degree. Consider printing this out and ranking from 1 to 10 (With 10 being best), your level in each category.

    Peace…[Read more]

I’m not going to sit here and complain that I have no money because it was a choice I made when I finished $3000 in two days. I can’t quit gambling the only reason why I do it is because I can, but I’m ruining my life, i have more debt than income so I don’t know what I’m doing. I like to spend more money on stuff instead of gambling but I find my…[Read more]

My daughter is a volleyball coach. She told me that she has a 6 foot freshman who could be great if…She went on to say, “This girl struggles to even hit the ball over the net from 3 feet away.” She asked my advise. I told her:

Have her stand 2 feet from the wall and hit 100 balls per day, trying to make it all the way to the wall.

    Some rea…[Read more]

    Prayers
On busy days consider picking 1-3 prayers so that you can focus on them often when you have time. But even when you have time, focus on opening up your heart to Jesus. The words are of mild importance, your desire to do what God wants is of great importance.

Consider praying: “Father, show me how wrong thoughts poison my life.”

    Consider…[Read more]

You can only do what you feel is right for your friend, regardless if you think they would do the same. Selflessness is such a honorable trait to have, and it’s hard to find. We sometimes create stress which leads to depression. We may have financial or success goals which cause stress, then depression. Instead, we should trust God, who says, “I will provide all your needs.” What do you do that creates stress? What does God want you to do instead? If you don’t know, consider asking Him often.
    Second, eat healthy, eat…[Read more]

Stayed away from gambling for 5 months. I thought I was cured and decided to go for my birthday. Big mistake! I lost over a thousand dollars in a short time. I have that hopeless feeling of anxiety and worry again. Why did I have to go back to this. I was better off celebrating my birthday at home with family. I hate myself all over again.

To win the grand lotto prize, the odds are one out of nearly 292,201,338.00. Just to put in this perspective, a person has a 1-in-15,300 chance of getting struck by lightning if they live 80 years. In other words, the odds of you being struck by lightning is 19,000 times higher than winning the lottery.
This also means that there are up to…[Read more]

Preparing like the Rock, Dwayne Johnson
Forming new habits is a huge challenge. We see someone with the discipline to resist overindulgence and we think: How in the world do they do that?
I watched “The Rock” in the hit film Jungle Cruise. He is in great shape and has big muscles. How does he do that?
The Rock brings his own gym to movie sets. Sur…[Read more]

Every bad habit features things we do to fall before a fall. A drinker might put on a movie that glorifies partying. A gambler may call a buddy who is obsessed with talking about gambling. A person struggling with drugs might just not fight against constant thoughts of how much they need to find some drugs. A person struggling with food may allow…[Read more]
