It’s been really quiet here since Ken has passed away.
The chat with a councillor isn’t here anymore.
Maximus had a few posts as representing this site.
There are over 8000 people signed up and no help for people working with getting gambling under control.
This site is sponsored by casino owner (government).
Where’s the help ? -

From my favourite trauma recovery coach
In my quest for recovery, I stumbled upon a profound realization: my false belief; that strength meant keeping my emotions locked away – oh how wrong I was. You see, I feared rejection, criticism, and abandonment, believing they would shatter me if I dared to expose my vulnerabilities.
I reached a…[Read more]

Jenny there are different stages to stopping it seems. At one point I felt as you do. Now instead of telling myself I may go back. I think why would I want to.
This takes time and I don’t think any of the effects of abstinence can be skipped.
I appreciate reading your thoughts and your experiences. -

A person has to remind them selves of the unrest that gambling brings.
It sounds like you are doing well.
I’m hanging in there also.
I think about gambling much less now. But I still do think about it. The urges have softened to almost nothing just a thought that comes for a minute and leaves just a quickly once in awhile.
It’s been just ove…[Read more] -

Buying scratch tickets after stopping slots.
There’s still the excitement of a possible win.
I had bought the odd one after stopping playing slots. I also had no luck on them I stopped with the scratch tickets right away as that wasn’t where my true addiction lyes. And I didn’t want another problem .
it’s a dream ,a hope for some quick money.…[Read more] -

Hi Jenny
I’m sorry you had a difficult day. I’ve been there also where I wanted to continue gambling and my card wouldn’t allow it.
It’s a blessing in disguise.
On the upside you were able to pay down some debt. That’s got to feel good.
I know having a small amount of money left makes things difficult for you. I’ve been there also.
All on its…[Read more] -

Hi Jenny
Growing pains. It isn’t easy for anyone who is trying to stay away from gambling. But your rewards for doing that will be ten fold.
You probably have been doing a lot of self talk. I do that quite a bit. . Reasoning with myself sometimes isn’t easy. We just need to keep trying and be really proud that we are. Only good can come from tha…[Read more] -

Hi Dan you are welcome. I wish none of us ever had a gambling problem and from my years of trying to find help. Good support caring advice at times has been hard to find. And it’s needed. And it means something when it’s given.
I’ve noticed your kind comments and really good advice along the way. Your advice and encouragement without a doubt…[Read more] -

Hi Frog I share your thoughts on just having to stay away. I’ve fallen into that trap many times thinking I can just handle it. And usually when I go back at first I can but I quickly slip into if I just spend some more money I’ll likely hit.
Then when I don’t and I’ve spent all this money depression sets in for me. I literally hate myself…[Read more]-

A message from a recovery coach that I respect.

No longer blaming others for any of my feelings and accepting per…[Read more]

I know for myself when I think I can’t do something I want to even more. Then I told myself I can gamble but it’s up to me to decide I’m not going too. If that makes any sense.
So they say urges last approximately 15 minutes then they pass. It probably varies from person to person.
Stress can add to wanting to play even the stress of loses…[Read more] -

Hi Lisa
It is scary what gambling can do to a person.
I’m still not sure why during gambling reason goes out the door. Possibly part of it is desperation to have our money back. It’s gone but you can make more and use it to live and pay bills down.
I’m still paying for my gambling actions. And will be for a time. But there will be a day that…[Read more] - Load More
Yes…..I miss Ken a lot and I know his family does and so do the many people on this site.
Was Ken a volunteer councillor
We share in missing Ken.
I always assumed Ken was paid by this site.
I’m uncertain if he was though.
If he did give his time freely that was very generous of him. Even if he was paid he was still very generous.
Ken’s family must miss him very much.
As well the people who frequent this site.
I hope the administrator of this site is able to…[Read more]
