It’s a snowy day in Michigan. I teach and because of the winter weather warning it is a snow day. In the past this would have been a day wasted on online gambling. Today, however, I am getting caught up on things around the house that I neglected over time because of gambling taking all of my time.
The road to recovery hasn’t been easy and…[Read more]-

No shame you were thinking ahead. You should be proud an addiction with gambling will trip a person up if it has a chance.
I’m sorry you miss it. I know how that feels. Time should fade that to a fairly good degree. Hugs ❤️-
What do you miss about it?

Be proud of yourself. Even if this is the 7,983rd time you’ve “started” recovery again. You are changing for the better every time. It will get to a point where the shame begins to loosen its hold and the realization that you are overcoming something this big takes hold and you are able to lift your head high again.
I’m proud of you. It’s ha…[Read more]

Check to see if your state has a responsible gaming database for online gambling. My state does and I filled out the paperwork. For 5 years I am prohibited from joining or gaming on any online gambling sites. It does work. I tried to log into a few and they all said cannot log in until Feb 14 of 2028.
I also had my husband put parental…[Read more] -

Today was bittersweet. I received an email from the Michigan Gaming Board saying my application to be placed in a responsible gaming data base registry was approved. I am now prohibited from any online gaming in Michigan until Feb 13, 2028. While I’m glad to not have the option to game, I’m a little sad to see it go. It happened so quickly.…[Read more]

Congratulations on making a hard decision. It is bittersweet. I think once you get past the initial hard parts the sweet will definitely take over the bitter. Best of luck to you.

Wow Browniegrl way to go. I’m really proud of you. You mean business. The bitter sweet part. You will have more money to spend on things you want and need. It probably will be hard at first but will fade. And knowing you can’t go takes some pressure off of you. Hugs you did really good.

Welcome! I started journaling in November. It has really helped me get out all of my feelings and it also gives me a way to look back and read some of my dark days in the hopes of reminding myself that I don\’t ever want to feel that way again!

Today I had my form notorized to be placed on the Michigan Responsible Gaming database to be excluded from online casinos in the state. Tomorrow I will send it in! I also had my husband turn on the parental controls on my phone so that I am not able to download any apps that are for 18+. (It seemed a little childish asking him to do that but…[Read more]

I’m so happy for you Browniegrl!! Thats the way to show this addiction that you mean business. Awesome!!!❤️❤️❤️

Good luck, you got this! I am going through similar situations, making my husband look at our checking account daily, to make sure I am being a good girl…and I am thankful for it!
-
Browniegrl congratulations it takes courage to turn away from an addiction. That’s showing you are truly doing what you want. One day we will look back on this and smile and we’re making that possible. Hugs.

Day 7! When your 17 year old son comes home from school and wants to go shopping for shoes and then wants to watch a movie with you….You drop everything. These moments are few and far between! It was a great way to spend day 7 of no online casino gambling! It really is one day at a time!

Way to go on making it a month without gambling. That is an accomplishment that you should be proud of. I journal almost daily about my struggles and a few weeks ago I wrote about how people label other people. Unfortunately, while the gambling is only one aspect of our life, to outsiders who don’t understand, we are seen only as only a…[Read more]

Day 6! Tonight I spent some time using a debt snowball online calculator and now have a solid plan to get my debts (a lot of which is from my gambling activites) paid off. I had the urge to gamble tonight and started to download a casino app but after looking at the due dates to make my debt plan work I quickly deleted the app.
The other day I…[Read more]-

Day 4
My new planner arrived. I\’m ready to set some goals and get through this.
I told my husband today. Due to our work schedules we didn\’t really have time to talk in a lot of detail. Hopefully we will be able to connect tonight. -

Day 3 of no online gambling. I created a new budget and have a plan to pay off debt. I am now in a competition with myself to watch the amount of debt shrink on my spreadsheet.
