What’s up everyone, my name is Danny. I’ve started to notice that my gambling urges are getting out of hand and I want to stop. I don’t want financial stress and I don’t want to be in the hole of addiction. That being said, it’s hard, hence why I’m writing this. Part of me is definitely embarrassed about it, I’m working a landscaping job tomorrow to pay off my gambling debts. I’m sick of not doing anything about my problem, so figured I’d document my thoughts in hope of fading gambling in general and hopefully being able to find people to relate to. I don’t want to go to meetings and make this a big part of my life, but I want support to try and be more responsible.

  Hi Danny.
  I hear you about not wanting to go to meetings and make stopping a big part of your life. I’m not sure what type of gambling it is that you are doing. Self exclusion is a sure way to stop if it’s online or casinos.
  A person needs to keep busy and it is a one day at a time thing when wanting to stop.
  If gambling was a paying affair none of us would be here.
  Part of it is to come to terms with gambling is not going to add to your life or give you extra money. The opposite is true.
  It’s a process stopping you need to figure out what will work best for you.
  I’ve stopped without GA although it likely does help. It helps to share with other people that are in the same boat.
  If trying something doesn’t work then a person should likely try something else until you find what does work for you to stop.
  You are not alone with your desire to stop.
  And from speaking with experience the sooner the better.

  So much of what you express is a realization those here have experienced as well… It grabs ahold of you.. and suddenly we think about how much we spend and that it really is an addiction… Hope that somehow there is someone you might confide in, someone maybe you can call or visit with that can help you when those temptations hit you… take care… Lindy
