APRIL 23 Reflection for the Day
No matter what it is that seems to be our need or problem, we can find something to rejoice in, something for which to give thanks. It is not God who needs to be thanked, but we who need to be thankful. Thankfulness opens new doors to good in our life. Thankfulness creates a new heart and a new spirit in us.
Do I keep myself aware of the many blessings that come to me each day and remember to be thankful for them?
Today I Pray
May God fill me with a spirit of thankfulness. When I express my thanks, however fumbling, to God or to another human being, I am not only being gracious to God or that other person for helping me, but I am also giving myself the greatest reward of all – a thankful heart. May I not forget either the transitive “to thank,” directed at someone else, or the intransitive “giving thanks,” which fills my own great need.Today I Will Remember

Ken… I want help but to me God is not the answer for me and for many reasons. Any other ways to believe I can beat this?

Gamblers Anonymous uses the word God / Higher Power in lots of the literature. My first meeting I thought it was a religious program/cult and didn’t go back and continued to gamble until I almost lost my family home job and life. When I went back a senior GA member took me aside and told me GA is a spiritual program and my Higher Power could be anything I wanted it to be. I choose the members in the meeting I attend as my Higher Power. If you are free tonight at 10 pm est join me and me and a few Gamtalk members in the chatroom where we have an online GA type meeting. And after the meeting we can talk about other recovery programs that might work for you.

Thanks Ken, sorry I missed the meeting. I will try to make it to the next one. I’m dealing with the death of my as well as this so it’s very hard to keep motivated
