I was Kicked out of school today because of my gambling problem. When I got my student loans I spent it all on Gambling and left none for books and other school supplies. I found myself gambling more then studying at times. Pretty much have lost all hope. As far as I am concerned, life is screwed up beyond repair for me now. Merry Christmas. If anyone ever actually wants to talk please message me or something. I’ve been alone this Christmas.

    • You are never alone with this problem, many of us have been where you are right now and felt the same desperation but, you are stronger than you think, you are young and you have reached out for help, that makes you special, not many do reach out for help. You do need help and with gambling problems you need to talk to someone who will understand and not be critical. There are worse things to have done, you haven’t harmed anyone but yourself, you are not a bad person. The school should be ashamed of themselves, instead of kicking you out they should be organising support and help for you. If you need a ‘buddy’ to steer you in the right direction let me know. Stay strong.

    • Hi Dawson, I can relate. What is helping me is working the 12 step program. I was in denial of my gambling problem for over two years. I thought I could control it. Now I realize I am a recovering compulsive gambler. I am powerless over gambling and my life has become unmanageable. There is a good course at http://www.gamblerhealing.com that is working for me. Will power alone won’t work, but if you come to believe that a Power greater than yourself can restore you to a normal way of thinking and living and make a decision to turn your will and your life over to the care of this Power of your own understanding. you will begin recovery. You can stop with the help of a higher power. For me, I talk to God daily, meditate, and most importantly recognize I am a recovering compulsive gambler. You can turn this around with your higher power’s help. Think of the addiction as a “monster” and stop feeding it. Things get better in time. Someone mentioned in Chat last night that when he stopped gambling he got everything he ever wanted and more. You can do this!

    • Dawson, I sure understand how you are feeling. I have been where you are and that was almost 14-yrs ago when I ended up in the hospital from a failed (thank goodness) attempt to take my life. See, gambling for me was SO bad that in the end, I was gambling with not with money anymore, I was gambling with my LIFE. You may call me anytime!! Email me at lyonmedia@aol.com and I’ll share my phone# with you. I understand coming here and sharing about it is a great start. But I also understand speaking by phone, if willing, can help even more. I sponsor several and mentor as well.
